The elements of octagonal pad during installation:
Before installation, the octagonal gasket and flange sealing surface should be cleaned and free from any defects such as scratches and spots that may affect the sealing performance of the connection.
2. The outer diameter of the octagonal gasket is smaller than the outer diameter of the flange sealing surface, and the inner diameter of the sealing gasket is slightly larger than the inner diameter of the pipeline. The difference in inner diameter is generally taken as twice the thickness of the sealing gasket to ensure that the inner edge of the sealing gasket does not protrude into the container or pipeline after compression, avoiding hindering the flow of fluid in the container or pipeline.
3. The pre tightening force of the sealing gasket shall not exceed the design specifications to avoid excessive compression of the gasket and loss of rebound ability.
4. It is better to use a torque wrench when tightening the gasket, and hydraulic tighteners should be used for large bolts and high-strength bolts.
5. During installation, the nuts should be tightened in sequence, but they should not be tightened once to reach the design value. Generally, they should be cycled at least 2-3 times to ensure even stress distribution of the sealing gasket.
If there is a leak in the pipeline, it is necessary to reduce the pressure before replacing/adjusting the installation of the sealing gasket. It is strictly prohibited to operate under pressure.
